We are living in a difficult time right now. Relationships can be hard enough, but adding polyamory AND a world-wide pandemic to the mix increases the challenges exponentially. Join a panel of educators and practitioners of polyamory for a discussion about handling your poly situation amidst such a unique time in history. We’ll touch on maintaining intimacy during social distancing, negotiations around risk factors, and much more. Be sure to submit your own questions at checkout when you purchase your ticket!

*Please note that at the present time we are utilizing Zoom for our online events. We are aware of the security concerns and are taking all necessary precautions on our end, including not recording this session. Please consider using a pseudonym and forgo uploading a photo of yourself while in the chat room. The chat function will be used so that participants can avoid speaking during the event.

About the Panelists:

Mia Fine – Mia is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a group therapy practice in Seattle, WA. As a holistic sex therapist operating from a lens of Queer Theory and intersectionality, Mia specializes in intimacy, sexual health concerns, and working with erotically marginalized clients: kinky folx, gender and sexual minorities, and clients navigating non-traditional relationships. Mia teaches sex therapy courses for graduate programs such as Antioch University, ISEE, and NWIOI and is on the board of directors for Pan Eros and NWIOI. When she’s not working, you can find Mia practicing self-care by traveling, climbing mountains, spending quality time with her people, and finding new ways to adventure around the PNW.

Allena Gabosch – Allena Gabosch, Executive Director of both the Center For Sex Positive Culture and Foundation for Sex Positive Culture from their creation until retiring January 1, 2015, has been active in the sex positive movement practically from its inception; producing educational and social events for the sex-positive community since 1990. She is a frequent speaker at colleges and conferences around the US, Canada and Europe with an emphasis on Sexuality, Relationships, BDSM and Polyamory. She is currently working on a book about navigating relationships.

Gloria Jackson-Nefertiti – Gloria Jackson-Nefertiti (she/her/hers) is a breast cancer survivor, whose 2013 diagnosis reminded her just how short life is, and served as the catalyst to help her come out as bisexual, polyamorous and sex-positive. She has practiced polyamory/non-monogamy since the late 1980s. She has spoken on polyamory in panels at high schools/colleges, and has sat in on polyamory/non-monogamy panels. You can learn more about Gloria from the following article: “Life with Two Boyfriends: Inside a Polyamorous Relationship“, and you can find Gloria on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, as well as her web site Not Gloria Jean.

Sar Surmick – Sar Surmick is the Director of the Consent Academy, a Seattle based education collective dedicated to teaching about consent in all of its amazing nuance and complexity (www.consent.academy). Sar also works as a marriage and family therapist with specialties in consensual non-monogamy and identity (www.significantconnections.com). When not doing either of those things, Sar manages to find time to write (see The Consent Primer available on Amazon), work with Camp Ten Trees (an LGBTQ+ Youth Camp), and manage several relationships. Sar has been Poly for over two decades and part of the community here in Seattle for almost as long.

Carl Watson – Carl is a relationship science geek, an iconoclast, and distracted by design (e.g., ADHD). He identifies as polyamorous and has been practicing non-monogamy for over 10 years. Carl is the current organizer for the oldest and largest Polyamory Meetup Group in Seattle (which predates his intro to poly). He co-facilitates a monthly poly discussion group and co-leads Ethical Non-monogamy United at Microsoft (ENUM). Carl publishes on relationships and polyamory as Mind-Crush (also on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter). The article Committed to you… on fluidity in relationships most concisely expresses Carl’s approach to relationships and is, by far, his most popular blog post.
