SEAF2020 – The Pandemic Edition

Dearest Friends, Artists, and Volunteers,

I have been waiting as long as possible to write this letter, hoping that something miraculous would happen to change the course of this pandemic. SEAF is such an important part of my year, and it is imperative to me that we honor the artists by sharing their art with the world. The last 4 months have been focused on getting loans, applying for grants, and doing everything we can to re-imagine this fabulous festival. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported SEAF and made it possible to keep moving forward.

The time has come to put our plans for a physically distant Seattle Erotic Art Festival into action. SEAF2020 will happen in three parts, each as its own SEAF-some with elements of visual, store, literary, and performance art.

  • SEAF-some #1 – September 18 – October 3
  • SEAF-some #2 – October 16 – November 5th
  • SEAF-some #3 – November 20 – December 5th

The visual art of SEAF2020 has been divided into three shows to be displayed at Gallery Erato with limited, in-person viewing hours. All viewing hours will follow the current King county health department guidelines for retail establishments. There will be multiple opportunities for virtual viewings of the art for those art lovers who are unable to attend in person, both as scheduled public events and private art tours. Art will be available for purchase via our online store as well.

Boom Boom L’Roux, our Performance Director, is working on creating virtual performance events. We’ll add in Literary readings, live chats, and more to give us all a little taste of SEAF at home. More will be revealed!

Ticket holders will be contacted via our ticketing service with updated options on what they wish to do with their SEAF2020 tickets.

Art Activist Society members will be contacted about the option to schedule private, in-person viewings when Gallery Erato is closed to the public.

Artists will be contacted with the specific dates their art will be showcased, and updated directions on getting your art to and from the festival. There will be one final addendum to your contract which will come to you through our contract system. We realize there are many reasons that some artists may not be able to send us their art for inclusion in one of the SEAF-somes. (Please contact our Exhibition Curator, Andrew, to discuss the options.)

Be on the lookout for more information soon. The SEAF planning team is committed to having SEAF2020 happen in the safest way possible and we thank you for being patient while we get all the little details settled.
