[Consent Academy] Consent and Leadership 7: Beyond the Ban: Options for Accountability
[Consent Academy] Consent and Leadership 7: Beyond the Ban: Options for Accountability
August 1, 2026 9:00 am - 11:00 am
online via Zoom
Purchase tickets here!
What happens after someone’s consent is violated? How do you support the person harmed? The person accused of harm? How do you even begin to work with something this emotional, complex, and charged?
For many leaders, the first response is to permanently ban the person accused of harm. But there are more options for accountability, each with pros and cons. This workshop provides an introduction to what different accountability processes can look like, centering harm reduction and transformation for all involved.
Who is the Consent and Leadership Series for?
Anyone in formal and informal positions of leadership who finds their work expanding to include issues around consent, such as ethics, interpersonal conflict, and harm. If you host events, teach, organize, manage, or supervise people; if you are just the one people go to when a problem around consent comes up; if you care about creating consensual spaces and have some power to influence others — then this series is for you.
Meet your instructor, Ariana Coveney, Consent Academy Director:
Ariana has been a part of Consent Academy since 2018. She is an ordained Shingon Buddhist Monk, with a background in psychology, linguistics, and education focusing on violence prevention. She has lived and worked all over the world doing grassroots activism for LGBTQ+ rights and domestic violence prevention. Her perspectives on harm reduction and accountability are based in her Buddhism and her Choctaw cultural heritage.

Gallery Erato, 309 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA 98104, USA

Interested in adding some bondage to your life but not sure where to start? This fun and accessible introductory class will introduce you to the basics of kink and rope bondage. By the time you’re done you’ll have all the skills you need to safely and confidently start exploring bondage on your own.
This is a bondage class rather than a knots class, so our focus is on teaching a small number of versatile techniques that you can use in all kinds of ways. All the ties in the class are easy to learn and can be used for many different play styles.
The point of bondage is to connect with your partner, so we’ll also cover fundamental kink concepts like consent, safewords, negotiation, and aftercare. To help you put it all together, we’ll have fun demos of the techniques in action, along with suggestions for how to figure out what kind of kink works best for you.
Single students are welcome, but this class is most fun if you take it with a partner. We’ll provide practice rope if you don’t have your own. The 38 page color handout includes all the class material as well as additional ties to practice at home.

Saturday Shenanigans - Gallery Bar Open
August 1, 2026 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Gallery Erato, 309 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA 98104, USA
Come be a part of a community that supports the artistic growth of all its members! Enjoy art, experiences, performances, and a drink in Gallery Erato every first Saturday. Saturday Shenanigans is a monthly event where we come together to share in experiencing live performance art with an "open mic" style showcase. Each month we will explore a different type or style of performance, such as burlesque, poetry, bondage, aerial, spoken word, circus arts, comedy, with a guest host to wrangle performers of all skill levels. August's featured art form:
Mockingbird Comedy has been looking for the perfect partner for sexy times and have finally found that partner is Gallery Erato, the year-round home of the Seattle Erotic Art Festival.
We’re (overly) excited to announce the creation of The Naughty Bits Comedy Show in partnership with our new friends with benefits at Gallery Erato, the Pioneer Square erotic art gallery and performance space. The first show is at 8 pm on Saturday, Aug. 1, and we’ll be joining Gallery Erato’s Saturday Shenanigans party quarterly going forward.
We’ll have a diverse, LGTBQ-friendly roster of Seattle’s local famous stand-up comedians. They all share a lust for sex-positive ribald jokes and will be leering at all things blue from a variety of angles. We expect it to be naughty, nasty, sloppy and hopefully a little bit awkward, just like all satisfying lovemaking should be.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 when doors open at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased here: https://www.strangertickets.com/events/185718938/the-naughty-bits-a-comedy-show
We’re excited to join the party. Come laugh with us!
Event is 18+. Must be 21+ with valid government ID to be served alcohol. Doors open at 7pm. Show starts at 8pm. All seating is first come, first served. View the current exhibition on the walls and shop the smaller artworks and prints of our currently showing arts and Seattle Erotic Art Festival alumni. Wine, beer, cocktails, and NA spirits and beverages available.

[Consent Academy] Consent and Leadership 8: Personal Accountability for Leadership
[Consent Academy] Consent and Leadership 8: Personal Accountability for Leadership
August 8, 2026 9:00 am - 11:00 am
online via Zoom
Purchase tickets here!
Cancel culture, rumors, or simply letting people down can be terrifying in a culture of retaliation and punitive justice. This fear can create a kind of instinct to deflect, deny, or defend against any accusation of wrongdoing. But this never makes the problem disappear. Not taking accountability as a leader causes loss of trust, and can drive away valuable members of our communities and organizations.
Everyone has times when they need to take accountability, including those in leadership. As the face of an organization, sometimes you even have to take accountability for the actions of those you represent. Personal accountability for leadership comes with unique challenges, especially around making public statements, balancing confidentiality, transparency, and the reputation and stability of your organization. This workshop goes over best practices, helping leaders reduce their fears of owning mistakes, so they can act with integrity when it really matters.
Who is the Consent and Leadership Series for?
Anyone in formal and informal positions of leadership who finds their work expanding to include issues around consent, such as ethics, interpersonal conflict, and harm. If you host events, teach, organize, manage, or supervise people; if you are just the one people go to when a problem around consent comes up; if you care about creating consensual spaces and have some power to influence others — then this series is for you.

when we close the doors at 6pm. Come introduce yourself, mingle and meet, then we will collect donations, close the doors, and shooting can begin. At this point, no more attendees will be admitted so no new faces surprise you while you’re shooting. Some gear will be available to rent or borrow, we will go through the available supplies at the start of the event.
Open Shoot Format
Throughout the event, photographers, assistants, and models will use the large, versatile
shooting space to collaborate, have fun, and make art. Come with an idea in mind and a
photographer in tow or meet someone here and come up with a spontaneous shoot inspired by the surroundings and your model’s style. Bring all your own gear, ready to shoot, and explore the space to find the perfect spot. Take advantage of any down time to connect with your fellow creatives, find inspiration, share your knowledge and experience.
Consent + Consideration
Make sure that you have the consent of all bodies in your frame before you shoot. Watch your backgrounds and try not to walk through active shooting space you’re not participating in as a courtesy to all. Lingerie, suggested nudity, and nonsexual nudity are welcome throughout the space. We ask that explicit or overtly sexual acts (use your judgement, ask if you’re not sure) be shot downstairs. We will continually evaluate the ways we use the space and adjust for the comfort and needs of our community to best facilitate free creation. No one is required to shoot with anyone else or to shoot any content they do not wish to participate in. Pressure is unacceptable, both photographers and models are expected to take “No” as a complete sentence any time it is given.

This class is about taking your kink from practice to play. Turn your scenes from series of activities into an emotional experience.
You've got the basics. This is what comes after.
We dive into how to create a "vibe" with negotiation, practical tips and hands on practice.
We'll work out how to know what mood you're actually trying to create, how to build toward it deliberately, and create transformative experiences. This is a hands on class, we're going to practice building emotional enviroments for better scenes, and the practical tips for how to accomplish them. You'll be doing mini-scenes with your partner all along to learn your new skills. If you come alone, you'll be assigned to a buddy to work through the activities togteher!
