The tengu is a fun and funky chest harness that provides a lot of versatility in flight and in creating shapes. We will explore unique ways to suspend the tengu and create different shapes with this dynamic tie. The tengu provides a structure of a basic chest harness coupled with bent elbows that make this a great option for those being tied who enjoy different arm positions. This sequence will take us from a partial on the ground to a full suspension (those wanting to stay in partials will be able to do so). Students tying will learn fun new transitions and how to navigate this fun functioning tie. Those being tied will explore new arm placements and gain understanding in how to be tied in this unique harness.

Prerequisite knowledge:

For those tying: Know how to tie a suspendable upper body harness. Know how to tie low body ties for suspensions and transitions in suspensions. Functional understanding and experience managing up lines. Knowledge and experience suspending bodies and managing up lines in transitional suspension sequences. I do not allow students in my classes to practice suspensions unless they have shown they already have a basic knowledge and understanding of suspensions including safety.

For those being tied: Experience being tied in transitional suspensions. Experience being tied in a suspendable upper body and lower body ties. Basic understanding of anatomy and safety. Ability to communicate about their bodies and how they are functioning in ties.

You will need:

6-8 ropes for this class preferably 25-30ft. I always suggest natural fibers such as jute or hemp, but nylon may be used for this class. Safety shears or a cutter is required.

All sexes, genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, relationship orientations welcome and celebrated.

About the Educators:

Paisley has been involved in the kink community for about 7 years, starting first in Eugene, OR and now in Seattle, WA. She is a happy Suspended Animation crew member and co-founder of the Seattle Rope Studio. She identifies primarily as a rope bottom but has wide range of bottoming experience. Panda fell in love with rope in mid-2013. She began her rope journey being mentored by Pru, a dedicate and talented rope top. Panda started as a self rigger, then expanded to tying others and being tied. Panda has taught classes across the U.S. Panda is the founder of rope lab at SubSpace Seattle and coordinates their monthly gatherings. She coordinates events for SubSpace along with teaching classes regularly. Panda is also the founder of Start Here, a group that spans over 3 states that is geared towards educating new people who enter the scene. She also enjoys performing and performed for MBE Orlando in 2015. Her passion for rope is deeply rooted in her interactions with her partners. She brings a strong layer of connection in her rope along with an intense focus on safety. With a professional background in education, she has a passion for knowledge that keeps her always learning and wanting to help others learn.
